Do you use a weekly planner?

"If you are depressed you are living in the past. If you are anxious you are living in the future. If you are at ease you are living in the present." - Lao Tzu

I saw this quote for the first time the other day and I loved it. I used to find myself super anxious and overwhelmed about things coming up that I needed to do. I felt like I couldn't get a grip on them all and like some things would slip by or get missed or like it was just too much. I had also never been good at keeping a planner.

A few months ago that changed. I bought a planner and decided to stick to it. Every Sunday evening I sit down for 5-10 minutes and plan out my week. I put where I need to be and when, on what days and times I plan to do my normal weekly job duties, and any special events/tasks I need to manage for the week. Then each weeknight before bed I take just a minute or two to review the following day and make any adjustments as needed.

It's crazy how something SO simple and easy has helped with my anxiety and feelings of overwhelm. Once it's in the planner, I know I can let go of it. I don't have to keep reminding myself that something is coming up or that I'll need to be somewhere eventually. It's all there. I can live in the present moment instead of reminding myself of all the things I need to do in the future.

If you struggle like I did and don’t keep a planner, I HIGHLY recommend starting this routine! It doesn’t take much time at all and can really help to ease the mind.
