Week 5: Happiness

Increase your happiness by giving.

Did you know that one of the easiest ways to increase happiness is by giving? Donating money to charities or your time to volunteer work has been said time and time again to be one of the number one ways to increase happiness. The catch is, to get the happiness boost, you have to do it regularly. A one time gig won't cut it for the long term. If you don't have extra money to spare or time to give, there is another way you can give to others that will not only help you feel better, but them as well - compliments.

Offering sincere compliments to other people not only adds a nice boost to that persons day, but to yours as well. Giving compliments enhances well-being by making you feel generous and happier about yourself because you helped to boost someone else's self esteem. Paying a compliment a day is an quick, easy, and sustainable goal. Once you get used to it, it won't take much effort at all, requires no additional time, and it's completely free!
